The consequences of bad health are obvious. Overweight, out of breath through simple exercise such as running for a bus or climbing the stairs at work, minor aches and pains and muscle twinges such as a bad back are all symptoms that we either recognise in ourselves or that our friends and family already suffer from.

There is no problem from engaging in an exercise programme at any age but it is wise to remember that the older you are and the less fit your body is overall the more careful you should be in both the level of activity you initially engage in and the type of exercises you choose. After all the make up of a 30 year old man’s body is going to be completely different from a man who is 60 years old relatively speaking and the 30 year old will undoubtedly be able to push their body harder from the beginning than the sixty year old.
